2023 Geneva International Auto Show Will Be Staged In Doha

Organizers behind the Geneva International Motor Show (also referred to as the Qatar Show) have announced the automotive event will occur between 5 - 14 October. This year, GIMS Qatar won't take place in Switzerland but in Doha, Qatar's capital city.

Attendees have plenty to look forward to, with 10 new cars set to be unveiled at the motor show. In total, 30 different brands will exhibit their latest and most exciting vehicles. Little is known about the participating manufacturers at this stage, but more information will be shared on GIMS social media channels in the coming weeks and months.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the event to be put on hold, and it was later relocated to Doha in 2021. However, plans are in motion to return the motor show to Geneva in 2024.

"Excitement is building for the first edition of the Qatar show in Doha, which is now only a few months away. We're on track to make the event the new, top-tier motor show for the Middle East, bridging the gap between the exciting automotive industries in the East and West," said Sandro Mesquita, CEO of the Geneva International Motor Show.

"One of our exhibitors has participated in every edition of the Geneva Motor Show since 1924 and is just as enthusiastic to join us in Doha," added Mesquita.

First established in 1905, the Geneva Motor Show has become one of the world's leading automotive events and is often chosen by manufacturers to reveal exciting supercars and sports cars. Recent notable reveals include the Toyota GR Supra, Lamborghini Huracan Evo, and several tuned vehicles from Brabus and Mansory.

The Qatar-based show will commence with an exclusive opening ceremony on October 5. Two days later, the general public will be welcomed into the show. GIMS Qatar has been planned to coincide with this year's Qatar Grand Prix, which is set to take place between October 6 - 8. Aside from the new car reveals, the National Museum of Qatar will host a forum on the future of car design. An off-road experience is also planned.

As for next year, GIMS will celebrate its 100th anniversary as an international show. The Geneva-based show will occur between February 26 and March 3, focusing on the evolving mobility landscape.
