The AT4 trim looks especially tough.

The 2024 GMC Acadia just landed at the 2023 Detroit Auto Show, sporting similar changes that were first presented on its Chevrolet counterpart, the Traverse. Like the Chevy, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.6-liter V6 have been ditched in favor of a new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-pot. It sends 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque out through an eight-speed automatic transmission to either front- or all-wheel-drive. For reference, the outgoing V6 only delivered 310 hp and 271 lb-ft. Towing capacity is up to 5,000 pounds.

As the rumors suggested, the Acadia has grown in size to better compete with other mid-size three-row SUVs. It's 10.6 inches longer and 3.2 inches taller than the outgoing model with 36% more space behind the second row and nearly 80% more space behind the third row.

Inside, all Acadia trims get a new 15-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen display with built-in Google capability. And yes, this screen will still support Apple CarPlay. There are also up to nine available camera views to make parking easier. A new 11-inch digital gauge cluster also comes standard on all trims, and SuperCruise hands-free driving is available.

The Denali trim remains the most luxurious Acadia with features like a power-folding third row and one-touch folding second row. This model gets a unique chrome grille and available 22-inch machined aluminum wheels, the largest ever fitted to an Acadia. Inside, the cabin feels premium with laser-etched wood trim, Galvano chrome accents, heated/ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a Bose audio system with up to 16 speakers.

Outdoorsy families will love the Acadia AT4, which rides an inch higher than other trims on 18-inch all-terrain tires. To further differentiate the AT4, it gets red tow hooks and integrated skid plates. Inside, the AT4's cabin is finished in Forest Storm with Mahogany stitching with metallic chrome trim. It may not be GMC's most rugged product, but the AT4 trim gets an off-road-tuned suspension with hydraulic rebound control and Active Torque Control all-wheel-drive system with twin-clutch rear differentials.

No pricing was announced for the 2024 Acadia, but production will take place GM's Lansing Delta Township Assembly in Michigan with deliveries set to commence in early 2024.
