2024 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid Arrives With 512-HP V6

That's a ton of power for a hybrid.

Porsche has revealed yet another variant of its popular Cayenne called the S E-Hybrid.

This new 2024 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid (also available as a Hybrid Coupe) sits between the standard E-Hybrid, which was revealed with the facelifted 2024 model range, and the absolutely bonkers Turbo E-Hybrid model, which debuted last month with 729 horsepower. As you'd expect from Porsche, the S E-Hybrid perfectly splits the difference between the other hybrid models, slotting in as a "Goldilocks" option.

A 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine sits under the hood, the same one found in the standard E-Hybrid. In fact, the engine produces the same output, 348 hp, and the electric motor produces the same 174 hp. But whereas the E-Hybrid only delivers a total output of 463 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, the S E-Hybrid dials those numbers up to 512 hp and 553 lb-ft.

Porsche says this combination can rocket the S E-Hybrid up to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, matching the twin-turbocharged V8-powered Cayenne S. The quarter-mile is dealt with in 13 seconds, which is a tenth of a second quicker than the V8. With two fewer cylinders and a 25.9 kWh (gross) battery pack, the S E-Hybrid should also be more efficient than its gas-only counterpart.

Porsche has not quoted fuel economy or electric range yet, but the 2024 Cayenne's larger battery should enable more than the outgoing model's 17-mile electric-only range. An 11 kW onboard charger should allow a full charge in around 2.5 hours on a Level 2 home charger.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid looks similar to the Cayenne S on the outside. It rides on 20-inch Cayenne S wheels and comes with a dual exhaust system with brushed stainless steel tailpipes. The regular S E-Hybrid gets a Silver Exterior Package, while the Coupe comes with a Black Exterior Package. Inside, customers get eight-way seats, the Sport Chrono Package, Comfort Access, stainless steel pedals, and the Diamar Interior Package in Silvershade.

Pricing for the S E-Hybrid starts at $99,100 (not including a $1,650 delivery fee) or $104,000 for the Coupe. That is only a bit more than the E-Hybrid ($91,700) but significantly less than the Turbo E-Hybrid ($146,900).

The order books will open immediately, while deliveries begin in Spring 2024.
