5 Epic Custom Trucks Up For Auction In Dallas This Week

Mecum Auction's Dallas event is set to kick off this week, from September 20-23. Collectors and gearheads will get an opportunity to bid on no fewer than 1,500 vehicles made up of muscle cars, striking exotics, and custom pickup trucks. We've selected five outstanding trucks that shun normality and demand attention - albeit in rather different ways. If you're into lifted trucks, rat rod-style pickups, or neatly done classics, there's something for you at the Dallas auction.

Painted in a vivid Sunset Pearl exterior finish, no expense has been spared on this 1936 Ford Pickup. The truck wears custom fiberglass fenders mated to a steel body and bed. The vehicle has been shortened by eight inches and has had six inches chopped off the top, which gives it a menacing stance. Dramatic gullwing doors complete the look.

Built over ten years, the previous owner has poured $250,000 into the project. Power comes from a 6.3-liter V8 and is channeled to the drive wheels via a TH350 automatic gearbox. Sadly, there are no performance figures available.

The Ford boasts a white leather interior with customer embroidery work and stitching. Air conditioning is a welcome modern touch.

A descendant of the best-selling F-150 series, the F-100 is now a sought-after classic truck. This particular example is far from original, but that shouldn't put collectors off. The gorgeous burnt orange exterior paint accentuates the F-100's curves, a design theme that has disappeared from today's serious-looking trucks.

Despite the vintage looks, this old Ford can keep up with the best of them, thanks to a 7.0-liter Roush V8. Again, performance figures aren't provided, but we're guessing this F-100 has plenty of muscle hiding under the hood.

The interior is a symphony of brown and beige. That doesn't sound exciting, but the classy leatherwork looks great and works beautifully with the custom center console and other additions. A polished wood bed floor and chrome wheels tie everything together nicely.

If you're into the rat-rod look, this Chevy 6400 Custom Truck will be right up your alley. The patinated and weathered finish of the exterior may not be to everyone's taste, but it gives the pickup some character.

Lowered to within an inch of its life, the 6400 does without a bed. With an exposed frame and thick rear tires, we wouldn't be surprised if this Chevrolet has some serious performance capabilities. A 6.0-liter V8 engine is mated to an automatic transmission.

The interior is best described as spartan, but we're guessing luxury or comfort isn't what this truck is about.

This delightful Chevrolet C10 is the epitome of cool thanks to its seductive Candy Red paintwork and subtle approach to hot-rodding style.

Under the classic bodywork, you'll find an Art Morrison chassis. The US-based chassis specialist is renowned for its work and has supplied chassis to some seriously impressive builds. This Chevrolet has won multiple awards for its superb finish and attention to detail.

Powered by an 850-horsepower V8, this is one C10 that won't be caught hanging around at the traffic lights. Like the rest of the trucks here, this one sends its power to the wheels via an automatic transmission. A modernized interior with black leather and red accents complements the exterior nicely.

From the restrained to the conspicuous, we have this lifted Ram 3500 Laramie. Painted white with gold trim, this high-riding Ram boasts custom RJ Fabrication underpinnings. It's certainly imposing and will allow the driver to laud his superiority over other motorists while in traffic.

While we can't imagine this being a lot of fun to drive in a hurry, it's most likely just a show truck and will remain that way. This particular model gains motivation from the Cummins 6.7-liter inline-six diesel engine, which means it produces around 400 hp and a mountainous 1,000 lb-ft of torque.

The interior has been left stock, which is a good thing, as the Longhorn has a sumptuous leather and wood-lined cabin.
