2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Review: Vying For The Hybrid Crown

For 2023, the Honda Accord Hybrid enters its 11th generation, building on the bones of the outgoing model with a slightly larger body that is both attractive and stocked with even more features than before. With most of the new range incorporating the 204-horsepower hybrid twin-motor powertrain, the Honda Accord Hybrid sedan is the model to watch. It only just fits into the midsize segment now, so it still competes with popular sedan hybrids like the Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata. However, with a higher starting price, does the new Honda Accord Hybrid bring enough to the table to finally have a shot at the top-sales crown?

The chassis is now a little stiffer, making the new Honda Accord Hybrid sedan more engaging to drive, while the CVT now more accurately simulates gearshifting. Features have been enhanced, too, with wider degrees of vision from the safety assist systems and a longer sensor range on the blind-spot system.

2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Handling and Driving Impressions

Commuter sedans are built with a specific purpose in mind, so they naturally lean toward comfort and driving ease. For this reason, the 2023 Accord Hybrid surprises with its nimble and responsive handling, especially on Sport models that boast sharper handling. However, even these trims are still able to take most bumps in their strides while ensuring occupants remain cosseted inside. The only thing that may disrupt the riding experience is the intrusion of some road and wind noise at higher speeds. Overall, driving the car is easy, and while the powertrain leans heavily toward better fuel economy, it has more than enough power to accelerate quickly and easily.

Verdict: Is The 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid A Good car?

While sedans aren't as popular as SUVs or pickups, they still sell reasonably well in the USA, and the Honda Accord is one of those that move the most units. It definitely has a solid safety and reliability rating to thank for this, but the Hybrid Accord also boasts some added power and impressive fuel economy. A spacious interior and generous trunk should be enough to appeal to most mainstream sedan shoppers, but Honda backs this up with a surprisingly enjoyable driving experience. True, there are models out there that can astound with their practicality or their performance, the Honda Accord Hybrid is one of the most well-rounded on the market, and perhaps even more so than its more popular rivals.

What 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Model Should I Buy?

There is just a small price difference between the mid-range EX-L Hybrid and Sport-L Hybrid, and both of these offer a little more in terms of comfort and convenience over the base model. For around $33k, both these models come with leather-trimmed seats with heating up front, the same number of safety assists, and almost identical features lists. The EX-L gets an auto-dimming rearview mirror over the Sport-L. The main difference is the Sport-L naturally offers a meaner aesthetic, with a black decklid spoiler and rear diffuser, and larger wheels. Either of these offer good value for money.
