2025 Fisker Alaska First Look Review: A New Take On The All-American Pickup

As Fisker continues its rollout of the Ocean electric crossover, what could end up being its most significant product is the pickup you see here. Known as the Fisker Alaska, this will be a fully electric vehicle sharing many of its components with the Ocean, while also competing against other electric pickups like the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T. However, the Alaska will be smaller than these vehicles. Starting at around $45,000, the Alaska has a projected range of between 230 and 340 miles and is based on an extended version of the Ocean's platform. But it could be the exciting design and features like the extendable cargo bed that attract customers by the time deliveries begin in 2025.

When Is The 2025 Fisker Alaska Coming Out?

The release date for the Fisker Alaska is set for later in 2025 as production of the new truck will kick off in Q1 of 2025. CEO Henrik Fisker did hint that the Alaska could arrive as early as the end of 2024, but that remains to be seen.

2025 Fisker Alaska Price And Competition

The price of the 2025 Fisker Alaska will begin at $45,400 before incentives, assuming nothing changes between now and when it goes on sale in the USA. A $250 reserve fee secures buyers a spot on the waiting list, decreasing to $100 if you want to reserve a second model.

At the reveal of the Alaska, the company's CEO said that it's somewhere between a compact and midsize model, so that explains why it's less expensive than other electric pickups like the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T. At the time of this writing, the Ford starts at $49,995, and the only available R1T carried an MSRP of over $70k.

Until the Ford Maverick Lightning becomes a reality or another brand builds a smaller electric pickup, the Alaska won't have any direct rivals.

New Fisker Alaska Exterior And Colors

The sporty exterior design of the Fisker Alaska is something completely fresh in the pickup segment. You won't have a chance of missing what's driving up behind you since the Alaska name is printed in big, bold letters across the face. Being an EV, it's refreshing to see that Fisker hasn't tried to incorporate a faux grille, instead opting for a smoothed-over nose underscored by a central intake sporting honeycomb mesh. Ultra-slim headlights and vertical daytime running lights give the new Fisker Alaska electric pickup truck a futuristic appearance.

Along the side, there are pop-out door handles and large wheels sit in exaggerated wheel arches - wheel sizes will range from 20 to 22 inches. Slim taillights wrap around the rear of the body, and the Alaska name is once again repeated on the tailgate. One of the truck's most innovative features is the 'Houdini partition' that sees a panel behind the rear seats lowered electronically (it slides out of sight thanks to the space created by the FM31 platform and clever battery layout), while a flip-up panel protects the seat backs and interior from the elements.
As far as colors for the Fisker Alaska are concerned, we have no idea what these may be. The Ocean's broad color palette consists of shades like Night Drive, Great White, and Horizon Gray, plus brighter hues like Solar Orange seen in these picutres, all of which shoudl be available to the 2025 Alaska too.

Fisker Alaska Dimensions

Somewhere between a compact and mid-size pickup in size, most of the official dimensions of the Fisker Alaska haven't been published yet, but we do know it's 17.4 feet in length - 208.8 inches. This is longer than the Ford Maverick's 199.7 length; the rest of the measurements for the Blue Oval's truck can provide a rough guide for what we can expect from Fisker. The Maverick has a width of 72.6 inches and a height of 68.7 inches, and the Alaska is likely to be within range of these, possibly a little bigger.

Curb weight is unknown, but Fisker says that it has been designed to be the lightest electric pickup truck in the world. A full-size electric pickup like the Lightning weighs over 6,000 pounds, while the Rivian comes in at over 7,000 lbs. We expect the smaller Alaska to weigh in the region of 5,000 lbs.

Fisker Alaska Powertrain And Performance

With sparse details available, the most calculated guess we can make here is that the Alaska will share at least some of its electric powertrain components with the Ocean. However, the new Fisker Alaska pickup will come with a choice of two battery packs, 75 kWH or 113 kWh (the Ocean gets an 80 kWh unit). Depending on the trim level, the Ocean makes between 275 and 540 horsepower, so we assume similar figures for the Alaska - even 275 hp will be healthy.

In the Ocean, both single-motor front-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive derivatives are available, but we doubt that the Alaska will come with FWD - AWD is likely to be standard. We do know that the Fisker Alaska has 0-60 mph times as quick as 3.9 seconds, with the slowest version topping out at 7.2 seconds.

Other Ocean features include Earth, Fun, and Hyper driving modes, the names of which are quite self-explanatory, along with an available Boost mode. Hopefully these carry over. Towing specs won't be as critical since the Alaska is a smaller pickup, but it should still be capable of better towing than an equivalent crossover. The Ocean can tow up to 4,000 pounds, so Fisker should look to crack at least 5,000 lbs for the Alaska. The Ford F-150 Lightning has a towing capacity between 7,700 lbs and 10,000 lbs, but it is a bigger vehicle.

Range, Charging, And Battery Life

Fisker has projected a range of between 230 and 340 miles for the Alaska, exceeding the F-150 Lightning's maximum range by 20 miles. While the Ocean has an 80-kWh battery, the Fisker Alaska will have two battery pack options: 75 kWh and 113 kWh, with the latter being responsible for the maximum range. The Ocean AWD has the ability to disengage the rear electric motor for periods to boost range, a nifty trick that would be useful if applied to the Alaska.

Public charging should benefit from Fisker's partnership with ChargePoint, which currently has over 16,700 DC fast charge ports in the country. Most customers will also want to consider the Fisker Wallbox home charger, which can add 20-30 miles of range per hour for the Ocean. The Alaska will benefit from this too, and should be able to add around 200 miles of range in 30 minutes with DC fast charging.

Fisker Alaska Interior And Cargo

The Fisker Alaska's interior shares some commonalities with the Ocean crossover, including its large 17.1-inch center touchscreen. In a video shared online - which, unfortunately, only gave us a few dark glimpses of the Alaska's cabin - there also seems to be a second vertical screen ahead of the front-seat passenger, while a third display ahead of the driver will show pertinent information such as speed. Henrik Fisker also pointed out fabric-like materials on the dashboard that are actually made from reclaimed wood, supporting the company's goal for this to be an extremely sustainable pickup. There are massive cupholders and a dedicated spot for hanging your cowboy hat, just in case you forgot that this was a proudly American pickup.

The Ocean comes with a digital rearview mirror and a full suite of driver-assistance gear as standard. That includes traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane departure avoidance, and a parking assistant - there's no reason why the Alaska won't be equipped to the same high standard.

The seats inside the Fisker Alaska will likely come with fabric as standard and an imitation leather option. Considering the brand's sustainability goals, we don't expect genuine leather to be available. Press images show classy wood trim in the cabin and suede-like materials on the seats.

Being a pickup, we knew the Alaska would have generous interior storage, and Fisker has confirmed that it will come with the world's largest 'big gulp' cupholder, a cowboy hat holder, a special storage area for work gloves, a large center armrest with storage for medium-size items, and a passenger tray with a tablet holder.

The cargo space in the Fisker Alaska's trunk is also highly customizable, and although we don't have official figures just yet, we've been told the Alaska's 4.5-foot bed can expand to 7.5 feet with the Houdini partition behind the rear seats stowing away. Folding the rear seats down and flipping the electronic liftgate down, there's a maximum of 9.2 feet available.

As with the Ocean, the Alaska will have its own California mode whereby a single press of a button will drop all the windows - and possibly open the sunroof too.
