The formula here is really quite simple. AMG takes the ML-Class SUV and drops in the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 which they have begun using in all of their new ‘63’-badged vehicles. The result is a vehicle which is the kind of straight-line speed that makes muscle car owners nervous, and this from a European truck. It goes up against such similarly silly vehicles as the BMW X5 M and the Porsche Cayenne. It is one of those vehicles which answer the question “why?” with “why not?” Thoroughly unnecessary and impractical, but sometimes that’s what you’re looking for.
