Anthony Capretto

Staff Writer

Anthony’s passion for cars grew out of a mixture of intrigue and boredom while surfing the web looking for his first car during class in high school. Hours searching through Craigslist and Facebook marketplace segued into reading car blogs and watching car YouTubers, which slowly but surely helped to form his opinion that writing about cars for a living seemed like a pretty cool gig.

After heading off to college and graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Media Communications, he set about joining the corporate machine, where he soon realized it wasn’t all it’s chalked up to be. The nagging desire to break into the automotive landscape never left him, which led him to volunteer for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix: the longest continuously running vintage car race on city streets in America and second in the world only to a little race in Monaco.

This volunteering opened his eyes not only to the world of motorsports but invited him into the family that is the automotive community and all the awesome experiences that come with it, culminating in the life-changing experience of being whipped around Pittsburgh International Raceway in the back seat of Ralph Gilles’ Speedkore “Hellucination” Charger.

Thanks to this and many a cold email/message, he finally found his way to CarBuzz in the fall of 2022, where he’s been happily writing ever since. He now spends his days honing his car knowledge and writing ability, photographing street-parked cars for his Instagram, and fixing up his (criminally underrated) first-generation Toyota RAV4.
