2025 Automobili Pininfarina B95 First Look Review: Barchetta Brilliance

After breaking records with the Battista, Automobili Pininfarina has now revealed the B95, the first all-electric hyper Barchetta in the world. This hand-built open-top hypercar looks spectacular, which is no surprise since it draws inspiration from the dramatic PURA Vision design concept, building on the heritage of the Pininfarina SpA design house. Only ten examples of the B95 will be produced for well-heeled collectors at a jaw-dropping MSRP, and most of them may never take full advantage of its 1,877-horsepower four-motor powertrain that can send this masterpiece to 60 mph in under two seconds. Each one will have unlimited scope for customization, so no two examples of the B95 are expected to be the same.

When Is The Automobili Pininfarina B95 Coming Out?

The release date for the Automobili Pininfarina B95 ('B' for Barchetta and '95' to coincide with the 95th anniversary of Pininfarina SpA) will be in 2025. Even though only ten examples will be coming out, it could take a while to craft each one since the final, detailed specification will be determined by the customer. Hopefully, a few B95s will make it to the USA.

2025 Automobili Pininfarina B95 Price And Competition

The sky-high price of the 2025 Automobili Pininfarina B95 places it in a league of its own, with the automaker claiming it will start at €4.4 million. At current rates, that works out to around $4.8 million, but it's likely to surpass $5 million with options and other fees.

A car like this has no direct rivals, especially when it is the only all-electric hyper Barchetta. Another four-motor EV in the same performance category is the Rimac Nevera, but even that will cost "only" $2.3 million. If you must have an open Barchetta, Ferrari makes the Monza SP1 and SP2, but these are not EVs and have nowhere near as much horsepower on tap.

New Automobili Pininfarina B95 Exterior And Colors

Exquisitely detailed and sporting a theatrical open-top configuration, the exterior of the Automobili Pininfarina B95 is as much a piece of art as a hypercar. The PURA Vision design concept laid the foundation for the company's future design language, and the B95 demonstrates how those design principles can be applied.

The body features a high swage line that contributes to the muscular stance, as do the prominent wheel arches. A surrounding loop defines the fully exposed interior from above, but occupants are shielded somewhat by the first electronically adjustable aero screens in the world. These screens were inspired by vintage fighter planes and have a clear polycarbonate design. Behind each occupant, the raised domes create a cocooning effect while giving the 2025 B95 its distinctive profile.

Super sleek LED daytime running lights are found in front, and the wraparound hood tapers as it moves from the passenger compartment to the front. A carbon fiber front splitter is one of several elements with this carbon finish. From the side, the front overhang appears extraordinarily long.

There are no traditional door handles, and the wing mirrors have an aerodynamic design. Wheels measure 20 inches in front and 21 inches at the back, and these are forged aluminum items seen here in Matt Black with exposed aluminum matt precision-polished outers.

At the rear, the new Automobili Pininfarina B95 open-top electric hypercar has long taillight strips that increase the perception of width, set above an aggressive bumper with a large diffuser. We expect the available colors for the Automobili Pininfarina B95 to be near-limitless; the launch version debuting in Monterey has a metallic Bronzo Superga finish with a contrasting Giallo Arneis gloss (yellow) front section. Black Gloss '95' lettering features on the domes. Pininfarina says that the multi-layered gloss finish displays great depth of color; at night, it looks more bronze than gold, while gold metallic flakes are visible in the light.

Automobili Pininfarina B95 Dimensions

Dimensions for the Automobili Pininfarina B95 were not shared, but it only takes one glance to determine that this is a car of considerable length. Its height will be super low thanks to the absence of a roof, with the domes being the highest point. Other specs like the width and wheelbase are unknown.

In terms of curb weight, we have no idea how heavy this car will be. No four-motor EV can hope to be lightweight, but the B95's roofless body and a weight-saving carbon fiber housing for the battery should save quite a few pounds. We'll go out on a limb and estimate that the B95 weighs nearly 5,000 lbs.

Automobili Pininfarina B95 Powertrain And Performance

The electric powertrain in the Automobili Pininfarina B95 delivers outrageous outputs and performance. Four independent electric motors power each wheel, delivering a combined 1,877 hp. Although the torque figure wasn't provided, we presume that it's around 1,700 lb-ft - similar to the Battista which also has four electric motors. The B95's 0-60 mph time is claimed to be under two seconds, and the top speed is over 300 km/h (186 mph).

Full torque vectoring allows the driver to tailor the driving experience based on individual preferences and conditions. There are five driving modes - Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa, and Carattere - accessible via a rotary selector positioned in the vicinity of the steering wheel. 'Carattere' is Italian for 'character,' so there are no secrets about what kind of experience this mode provides, although 'Furiosa' (meaning furious) sounds like it unlocks the full performance potential of the B95. In Pura mode, we were just about able to make out outputs of 999 hp and 1,018 lb-ft on the left display screen in one of the press images. This demonstrates the extent to which the more comfort-oriented modes can limit power.

Range, Charging, And Battery Life

The lithium-ion battery of the B95 has a capacity of 120 kWh. This liquid-cooled, T-shaped battery pack has carbon fiber protective housing and supports DC fast charging at up to 270 kW. In 25 minutes or so, the state of charge can be increased from 20% to 80%.

Pininfarina didn't make any claims with regard to range or MPGe ratings, but we do know that the Battista with the same Rimac-sourced 120-kWh battery can manage around 300 miles combined. Of course, the B95's efficiency will be impacted by the absence of a roof, so we don't expect it to hit 300 miles.

Automobili Pininfarina B95 Interior And Cargo

"Interior" is perhaps too strong of a word for the Automobili Pininfarina B95's cabin, as the driver and passenger are unshielded from the elements. Yes, the dual electronic aero screens will keep you somewhat comfortable, but this is not a car to savor on a rainy day.

The interior features three screens enveloping the steering wheel, displaying information like speed, outputs per driving mode, and infotainment information. Besides the rotary switch for the driving modes and one or two others, the dashboard is mostly free of buttons and knobs.

The way the carbon-fiber dashboard merges with the exterior is visually captivating, and the model on display here has Tan Sustainable Luxury Leather. The PURA Vision concept inspired the seats inside the Automobili Pininfarina B95, which have a two-part design with aluminum inserts, electro-welded Pininfarina logos, and a Pied de Poule Houndstooth Luxury Textile that contrasts with the tan color lower down. Another interesting touch is the laser-engraved aluminum door plate on the outer edges of each door. It has an anodized black finish with B95 engraving in white.

No other details about the interior were shared, nor do we know if Pininfarina has included the latest driver-assist technologies. Cargo space specs for the Automobili Pininfarina B95 are unknown, not that this will bother prospective buyers.
