BMW M2 CS Reveals Unique New Headlights In Latest Spy Shots

That's not all that will be changing.

CarBuzz spy photographers have spotted the new BMW M2 CS testing, and their images reveal that the special edition of the M2 may get its own slightly unique headlights, among other things. The entry-level design sees the running lights reduced to no more than a thin horizontal line below the main projectors. We wonder if this DRL accent will become yellow as on the M3 CS and the M5 CS, but either way, there will be plenty to inform onlookers that they're looking at the hottest M2 variant to date. A new front splitter and an integrated ducktail spoiler for the trunk will be the most obvious of these changes.

That trunk lid could mean that we're looking at the M2 CSL, something that has been rumored since the first F87 M2 was launched, but even if we don't get an extra letter on the trunk badge, this will be lighter than a regular M2. Elsewhere, lower suspension, wider wheels, uprated brakes, and more power are all expected, with as much as 520 horsepower rumored to be in the cards.

Other changes could include a vented hood, according to earlier reports, but these new images neither confirm nor deny such claims. Some reports have also suggested that BMW will be expanding the M2 color palette, so we're hopeful that some of these new finishes will find their way to the M2 CS.

Unfortunately, we expect a long wait before anything is confirmed as the M2 CS is only predicted to be launched next year as a 2025 model. By that time, the regular M2 will reportedly get a power bump to 475 hp. To make that work without cannibalizing the rest of the range, BMW will up the output of the mechanically related M3 and M4. The most recent reports out of Germany claim that the base M3 and M4 will be boosted to around 500 hp, which would mean that either the Competition model will be culled or it, too, will have its output raised.

Whenever the M2 CS arrives, and however much power it makes, it's going to be limited and it's going to sell out fast. If you're interested, you'd best make friends with your local BMW dealer soon.
