David Brown Automotive's Mini eMastered Costs More Than A Porsche 911 GTS

This all-electric restomod weighs just 1,411 lbs and can reach 62 mph in 8.5 seconds.

David Brown Automotive has revealed its latest restomod project, the Mini eMastered. As the name suggests, this tiny British tyke is all electric powered by a Zonic 70 electric motor that produces 97 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque.

That doesn't sound like much, but the eMastered weighs just 1,411 lbs. As such, it can hit 62 mph in 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 92 mph. It won't set the performance world alight, but those figures are respectable for a little electric city runabout. Interestingly, it's quicker than an original Mini Cooper S from the '60s.

An 18.8-kWh battery provides a WLTP-estimated range of 118 miles, making it well-suited to shorter journeys. Interestingly, the eMastered beats the current Mini Cooper Electric Hardtop in terms of range with an EPA-estimated 114-mile range. The Mini restomod specialists say the battery takes three hours to charge from empty.

Power is sent to the front wheels via a single-speed transmission. Regenerative braking is also part of the package and will help drivers regain some range while driving around a congested city.

While the drivetrain is modern, the exterior has been left alone, save for a few subtle updates. The eMastered receives a model-specific body-colored mesh grille, LED lighting front and rear, halo-style headlights, and premium 12-inch alloy wheels. David Brown Automotive says customers can select from various designs finished in chrome or a bespoke color of the client's choosing.

The eMastered wears hand-enameled badging finished in monochrome grey and stylish bullet-style side mirrors finished in chrome. The rest of the exterior wears polished aluminum trim. Inside, the little Mini boasts craftsmanship worthy of a Rolls-Royce. Customers can choose from an array of materials, including leather and other premium materials and fabrics.

Peek through the steering wheel (available with a wood or leather/suede finish), and you'll see the old-school Smiths dials. High-end aluminum trim, including the gear lever, can be found throughout the cabin. The pedals and switchgear are also aluminum and feature a classy knurled finish, like you'd find in a Bentley. Even the trunk has been trimmed in high-end leather.

The eMastered receives plenty of modern technology to make it easier to live with. This includes an in-car infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, central locking, power windows, air-conditioning, USB charging, push-button start, and more.

However, this craftsmanship and extraordinary attention to detail does come at a cost. David Brown Automotive says pricing starts at £125,000 (approx. $155,000), which is a lot of money for a Mini restomod. Then again, wealthy aficionados are willing to pay big bucks if it means they have something exclusive and unique tucked away in their garages.
