First BAC Mono Buyer Is Probably A Lewis Hamilton Fan

Supercars / 6 Comments

This spec is clearly inspired by Mercedes-AMG's F1 team colors.

You're looking at the very first example of the new BAC Mono to be delivered, and if the livery is anything to go by, its Californian owner is a big fan of Formula 1 and Mercedes-AMG. The BAC Mono, with its single-seat layout, radical shape, and pared-back bodywork, is arguably the closest thing to a real F1 car that you can legally drive on the street - technologically brilliant Mercedes-AMG ONE notwithstanding, so this livery makes a lot of sense.

BAC does not specifically mention F1 or AMG but does say that the owner of the first new Mono is "a passionate motorsport fan" who wanted a look that "connects with the apex of the motorsport world." Unsurprisingly, the paint is not the only element of the car that takes inspiration from the world of F1.

The owner of this car flew out to BAC's facility in Liverpool, England, to have the seat of the Mono molded to their exact dimensions and curves, just like an F1 driver would have. The steering wheel, accented with a Brilliant Red noon marker, was also shaped to perfectly fit the hands of the commissioning buyer.

Brilliant Red references the burgundy of AMG F1 sponsor INEOS, while Aegean Sea draws inspiration from the Tiffany Green of Petronas, one of the F1 team's title sponsors. The rest of the body is finished in Metallic Liquid Silver or left unpainted to show off carbon fiber weave.

Finally, the effect is completed by a bespoke helmet designed in collaboration with Mono. Considering the colors used on the Mono, we're a little surprised that this helmet isn't purple, yellow, or blue. Mercedes-AMG F1 driver Sir Lewis Hamilton favors the former two colors, while his teammate, George Russell, typically dons a blue lid before tapping the TecPro. Now that this example has been revealed, we can't help but think that the BAC Mono would look epic in the colors run by other F1 teams. A red Ferrari lookalike would be hot, and a Gulf-liveried Williams or McLaren tribute wouldn't hurt either.

With BAC's expansion into North America, we hope to see more of these Monos out and about on American roads.
