GMC has officially revealed the first-ever Canyon AT4X AEV Edition for the 2024 model year. Pegged as the posher version of the Chevrolet Canyon ZR2 Bison with AEV upgrades, this midsize truck combines off-road capability with premium features, making it an enticing option for those seeking adventure without compromising comfort.

The AEV Edition, named after American Expedition Vehicles, is the ultimate version of the Canyon AT4X. Designed with the renowned off-road specialist, the truck stands tall on Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain 35-inch tires and best-in-class 12.2-inch ground clearance, emphasizing its off-road prowess.

To match its rugged persona, the Canyon AT4X AEV Edition sports a vertical spare tire mount in the bed, while wider tracks and fender flares contribute to its commanding presence.

Styling and functional upgrades include a revised front and rear fascia, donning AEV-designed heavy-duty bumpers with sturdy recovery points. The front bumper can even accommodate a winch for additional off-road utility.

Like the bigger AEV-upgraded GMC Sierra, the smaller Canyon has five skid plates made from robust boron steel for added durability, protecting critical components such as the radiator, transmission, transfer case, and gas tank.

Notable enhancements over the standard AT4X model include beadlock-capable wheels, three auxiliary control switches, AEV embroidered headrests, and all-weather floor liners. The AEV Edition also boasts impressive approach, break-over, and departure angles of 38.2, 26.9, and 26.0 degrees, respectively. The rear bumper features easily removable corners for challenging off-road sections, ensuring maximum maneuverability.

Under the hood, the AEV Edition has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, churning out 310 horsepower and a 430 lb-ft of torque.

The Canyon AT4X AEV Edition shares its GM-developed Ultifi vehicle software platform with its Chevrolet counterpart, benefitting from accelerated software and application development through over-the-air updates. The Ultifi platform will also be available on other variants of the Canyon and Colorado for the 2024 model year.

Produced at the Wentzville Assembly Plant in Missouri, the Canyon AT4X AEV Edition will arrive at dealerships late in 2023. Pricing hasn't been announced, though it's important to note that the non-AEV AT4X is already priced near the $60,000 mark, so going over that amount is expected.
