Fisker Ocean Production Ramps Up After High Demand For Electric SUV

The Magna-Steyr factory will go from 180 units per day to 300 by October.

Fisker has announced that it will be increasing production capacity for the Ocean, its all-electric SUV, by nearly double in response to high demand. At the same time, the automaker has plans to rapidly expand retail and delivery across several markets in North America and Europe.

Production is expected to increase from 180 vehicles per day to approximately 300 cars per day in the fourth quarter of this year. The company is working closely with suppliers to achieve this goal by October. By doing this, Fisker can deliver vehicles to customers swiftly. Key markets include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and several other European countries.

Magna-Steyr produces the Ocean at its Austrian facility in Graz, which also manufactures the Mercedes G-Wagon, Toyota GR Supra, and more. As of last week, 3,123 Oceans have been built, with 3,000 handed over to Fisker.

So far, 450 units have been delivered to US-based customers, with more on the way. The automaker notes an additional 1,500 examples are en route to America via ship. The rest of the Ocean SUVs have been sent off to Europe, which has received nearly 1,000 units. So far, 325 units have been delivered to European customers.

In May, Fisker delivered the very first Fisker Ocean to a customer in Denmark. Specified in the desirable One launch edition trim, the vehicle (pictured below) was finished in Great White with black-painted 22-inch wheels. Limited to just 5,000 examples, Fisker expects to receive all One launch edition vehicles by September 30.

According to the automaker, all Oceans will receive the latest Fisker software, which includes updates based on customer feedback. Keeping its clients happy is very important to the automaker. Last month, a customer who expressed dissatisfaction with his Ocean was bowled over by Fisker's remarkable customer care.

Founder and CEO Henrik Fisker said that customers and reservation holders remain the company's top priority as it prepares to ramp up daily production of the Ocean SUV.

"Customer deliveries will [expand] even more in the United States - from the East Coast to various other regions," explains Fisker. "Rest assured that we are pushing our logistics providers and teams to get Fisker vehicles [into] the hands of our exceptional customers. Our early customers have been with us as pioneers, giving us valuable feedback to [improve our car]. I will never forget the commitment that these customers have shown. The result of their feedback is now showing up in our vehicles!" he concluded.

Increasing production and deliveries of the Ocean isn't the only thing Fisker is busy with. The automaker recently revealed three new vehicles: the affordable entry-level Pear, an adventurous Alaska pickup truck, and the desirable Ronin Super-GT.
