Hyundai Will Give You A Free Home Charger If You Buy One Of Its EVs

Hyundai hopes to speed up EV adoption by offering customers a complimentary ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 Charger and a nifty discount on the installation. This, says the automaker, will help clients save money and create an improved customer experience.

The offer is only available for those who purchase or lease a 2023 or 2024 Ioniq 5, 2023 or 2024 Ioniq 6, or a 2023 Kona Electric via Hyundai Motor Finance. The deal is currently active and will run through to October 31.

"At Hyundai, we are focused on offering a wide range of high-quality EVs for our customers to choose from, but we know that the charging infrastructure and the process of preparing their homes [are] at the forefront of the minds of many EV-curious buyers," said Jose Munoz, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America.

If you're interested, here's how it works. Hyundai customers who purchase or lease one of the models mentioned above have 90 days from the date of purchase to schedule the installation of a complimentary $549 ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV Charger.

Hyundai also offers a $600 installation credit, bringing the savings to more than $1,100. Hyundai Motor Finance will provide customers with a coupon code to redeem. Getting the Level 2 charger installed is relatively easy. All you need to do is register your purchase on the Hyundai Marketplace and enter the coupon code. You will then be contacted by an Energy Advisor at Electrum via Hyundai Home, who will set up the installation process.

The Korean automaker has chosen Electrum to operate the Hyundai Home Marketplace. Electrum has experience in installing home chargers across the country.

"With this offer, we're making it easier for everyone to go electric by providing our EV customers with an expert Energy Advisor who can personally walk them through the process of outfitting their homes with the proper charging, energy storage, and collection equipment using our Hyundai Home Marketplace," added Munoz.

Incentives such as this and the $7,500 tax credit have helped boost EV adoption, but America still has a long way to go before electric vehicles are fully embraced by the buying public. While this means middle-class and high-income earners have many appealing options, most buyers are still left out of the revolution due to a lack of affordable electric vehicles.
