Land Rover Is Developing New Parts For Old Defenders

The British marque showcases parts and accessories for its iconic, enduring nameplate.

After introducing the limited (and pricey) Classic Defender V8 two years ago, Land Rover Classic is back with authentic and approved parts and accessories for the enduring nameplate.

With over seven decades under its belt, the Defender is one of Land Rover's most important models. Despite having a new model in the lineup since 2019, Land Rover remains dedicated to supporting the classic Defender community. The company aims to keep these timeless vehicles on the road longer by offering a range of new and upcoming parts.

Presented at the Goodwood Revival was the Expedition Camper - a classic Defender with camping-ready accessories. Land Rover Classic has partnered with leading accessory manufacturers to ensure these parts meet or exceed the automaker's stringent quality standards.

One highlight of the Expedition Camper is the TentBox cargo roof - similar to the Autohome roof tent for the new Defender - slated for release in early 2024. This versatile rooftop tent promises to expand the camping capabilities of classic Defenders. The Expedition Camper also boasts LED lighting, side steps, and Black Sawtooth wheels to enhance aesthetics and functionality. It likewise comes with a sleek black exterior pack for the grille, headlight surrounds, metal heritage badging, and a bolt kit.

Inside the Expedition Camper, Land Rover Classic has collaborated with The Ply Guys to offer a fully approved camper conversion. This interior transformation includes an Urlar floor with pin striping, a Croch Suas ceiling, a Torridon cooking station with slide-out storage, a cubby box by Gairdean, a low-level pull-out drawer with a locker made of birch ply, and posh Harris Tweed upholstery.

Land Rover Classic displayed two sample customization options for vintage Defenders, particularly for the 110 Hard Top and 90 Station Wagon. Differing from vintage Defender restomods, these modified SUVs come with official parts and accessories that include roof racks, leather steering wheels, SVX alloy gear knobs, and exterior design packs designed to elevate the visual appeal of the vehicles.

Lastly, Land Rover Classic introduced the Trophy Tribute Packs I and II, catering to clients seeking adventure and exploration. These packs feature distinctive grille designs, integrated winches, unique wheel options, and more, ensuring that classic Defender owners can access a comprehensive range of options for personalizing their vehicles.

The pricing for each part and accessory are not disclosed, but they can be purchased online via the Land Rover Classic website. On the other hand, those interested in the Expedition Camper will need to contact The Ply Guys directly.
