OFFICIAL: Lucid Gravity Will Debut In November

Lucid is on its way to produce 10,000 vehicles this year - but that's not the most interesting part of the automaker's Q2 2023 financial results. Officially announced in the earnings call, the Gravity, Lucid's second model, will debut in full in November - a year after the California-based EV startup revealed the electric SUV digitally.

Details of the unveiling weren't disclosed, though we can expect that Lucid will provide production model specifications and show the electric SUV's final form in a few months. The automaker has yet to announce specifics of the launch, including the exact date in November.

However, we have a good idea of what to expect from the Gravity based on initial specifications from last year.

The Lucid Gravity will be a large three-row SUV, with flexible configurations depending on the trim level. The six-seater will likely be the most luxurious option, armed with captain's chairs on the second row.

Lucid claims the Air is at the top of the luxury EV sedan tree and is making similar noises about the Gravity, saying that it will redefine its segment.

"Just as Lucid Air redefined the sedan category, so too will Gravity impact the world of luxury SUVs, setting new benchmarks across the board," said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Group.

That said, we are expecting the Gravity to use the same platform, electric motors, and battery pack as the Air, including the class-leading, EPA-estimated range of 500 miles on the Air Dream Edition, and the supercar-like performance from multiple electric motors.

The automaker started testing the Gravity on US roads a few months ago, with coordinates on its bumper pointing to where off-road testings would occur.

Meanwhile, with $3 billion in capital raised, Lucid also announced that the Gravity's production will begin in late 2024 - having initially said it would start this year. Those waiting for Lucid's SUV will have to remain patient

While pricing hasn't been disclosed, we expect Lucid to keep it modest as price wars among EVs in the US have started to heat up. The Lucid Air received significant price cuts recently, so a sensible sticker price for the Gravity should be considered to entice more buyers, ranging between $100,000 to $120,000 (or even lower).
