One-Off Ferrari KC23 Goes For Final Fiorano Drive Before The Covers Come Off

Video / 6 Comments

Before Ferrari pulled off the camo wrap, it filmed this mega look at what a bespoke one-off race car goes through at Fiorano.

Ferrari has given us a special look at the one-off KC23 around its iconic Fiorano test track before it quite literally pulls the wraps off this bespoke race car. But hasn't Ferrari already revealed the KC23? Sort of. Ferrari previously revealed all the details and supplied us with a batch of digital renders before showing it to the world at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now, the Italian supercar marque has published a new video showing the KC23's final Fiorano run in camo before it was peeled off, ready for delivery to the client.

Shot like a race scene out of the recent Gran Turismo movie, the intense video starts with a montage of mechanics getting the vehicle track ready and its driver getting in full gear.

Slick tires are installed, their pressures set, and the deployable aero is tested. Then we get to hear the car's beautiful 592-horsepower twin-turbo V8 come to life before the air jacks are lowered, and it sets off on its final test drive.

Quick shots show the car rocketing around the track, though it's hard to tell exactly how it does because the scenes are almost done before they begin. Since it's based on the company's iconic 488 GT3 Evo 2020 race car, we have a feeling the KC23 would be an absolute blast to pilot around a track just about anywhere, and hopefully, we can get some extended shots next time it does.

The shakedown presumably doesn't take place at ten-tenths, but as more of a final validation drive, and once the on-track action is done, the supercar peels back into the garage where the camouflage wrap is literally peeled off and the car is shown off in the metal and carbon fiber.

It really is a looker, with the methacrylate light blades on the rear really taking it a step above regular production Ferrari models like the 488 on which it's based or even the limited-run Daytona SP3.

The owner, whoever they are, definitely has some great taste and we hope they show it off instead of squirreling it away. The vehicle is currently on display at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, but it was able to join in on the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hill Climb earlier this year. Even during the wet event, the race car showed off what it could do, and boy, did it look mighty impressive.

It's easily one of the coolest supercars unveiled this year, and with only a few months left in the year, it may hold onto its spot.
