The 2023 Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid Sport Turismo is as niche as it gets - a luxury station wagon with hybrid propulsion and 4+1 seating, which is technically only seating for four. This hybrid Porsche is based on the second-generation Panamera that first showed face in 2017 and features both an extended rear end and a dash of electric power. It's not like other traditional wagons, which include rivals like the Mercedes-Benz e450 or Audi RS6 Avant, two cars that offer much more cargo space than their sedan counterparts. The 2023 Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid Sport Turismo adds only a touch more practicality in reality, but it looks so cool that few will worry about this indiscretion. The Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid Sport Turismo is available in various flavors, starting with the 455-horsepower 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo and topping out the range with the hottest Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo model, which packs a 690 horsepower punch and a 0-60 mph sprint time of 3.2 seconds. In this review of the Panamera E-Hybrid Sport Turismo, we take a look at just what makes this luxury performance oddball so satisfying to drive.
The Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid Sport Turismo remains mostly unchanged in the USA for the 2023 model year, but a larger 17.9 kWh battery does duty to increase the all-electric range to around 39 miles. Adaptive cruise control becomes a standard feature.

Don't mind the 2.5-ton curb weight of the Panamera E-Hybrid Sport Turismo; this car sticks to the road like few others. The hybrid name shouldn't give you the impression that it's tame either because it's blisteringly quick in any trim. The 2023 Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid Sport Turismo comes with four modes: E-Power, Hybrid Auto, Sport, and Sport Plus, and each mode takes you a step closer to full-blown lunacy. E-Power is all-electric, and Hybrid Auto will return the best gas mileage, but Sport and Sport Plus livens up the throttle response and variable-ratio steering and stiffens up the adaptive suspension for a taught but not crashy driving experience.
Around town, the 20-inch wheels don't feel noticeably hard, and the Panamera soaks up bumps without any fuss. Throw it around a little, and the E-Hybrid Sport Turismo clings onto corners for dear life, and with upward of 450 hp on offer and a sporty AWD system, this car feels like a rocket ship out of corners. We must admit that the steering feel is a bit muted, but you can't expect telepathy in this corner of the market. We enjoyed the Sport Response button, which gives you 20 seconds of Sport Plus driving, and the overall experience strikes a stunning balance between comfortable cruising and warp-speed grand touring.

The Panamera has never been a shouty car, and the E-Hybrid turns this outstanding Porsche platform into an even stealthier option, now with the added benefit of a wagon-style body. With only marginally increased practicality, a massive dose of luxury, and potent performance, Porsche's range of hybrid Panamera cars is the perfect tool for grand touring enthusiasts and suburban city slickers alike. If we had to choose a new Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid wagon, we'd go with the mid-range 4S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo, which offers superb performance at a significantly reduced price in comparison to the $200k-plus Turbo S at the top of the range. There are a few shortcomings, such as the lack of rearward visibility, the somewhat numb steering feel, and the lack of standard driver assistance systems, but get over those issues, and you're left with an interesting take on the modern sports car that is sure to blow you away.
