Polestar 3 Completes Extreme Heat Testing Ahead Of 2024 Production

Electric Vehicles / 4 Comments

100-plus-degree temperatures were apparently no match for the SUV.

The Polestar 3 is one step closer to production after successfully completing hot weather testing in the United Arab Emirates. Polestar's development team of engineers spent two weeks under the fierce Arabian sun, fine-tuning the climate control systems in one of the hottest environments on the planet. Taking the group from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, temperatures reached 122° F at times, pushing the system to the limit and giving the engineers invaluable data.

"The Polestar 3 development and testing program is progressing well, and I expect production to start in Q1 2024," said Polestar CEO Thomas Inglenlath. "Polestar 3 is at the start of its journey and customers can now visit our retail locations around the world to see its great proportions and sit in its exclusive and innovative interior."

This news comes after the vehicle made its dynamic debut at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed alongside the Polestar 5 prototype and Polestar 2 BST 230. All three tackled the hillclimb with ease and gave visitors a close look at the future of the brand.

Featuring a strikingly attractive exterior with a sloping roofline and boomerang-styled headlights, the vehicle is the perfect example of athletic Swedish design. A dual motor powertrain comes standard producing 489 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque and gives you a 300-mile range.

This can be bumped up to 517 hp and 671 lb-ft of torque with an optional Performance Pack and offers a 0-60 mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds with a 270-mile range. The 111-kWh battery has a maximum charging speed of 250 kW meaning it can be charged from 10-80% in just 30 minutes using a fast charger.

If you go for a launch model you also get many convenience options at no extra charge. Things like soft closing doors, a heated steering wheel, a power steering column, and even a revolutionary Bowers & Wilkins sound system will make your drive much more enjoyable. You'll then get to that location safer and easier thanks to Pilot Assist's hands-free driving, parking assist, head-up display, and much more.

A fully loaded model will set you back a little over $100,000. Still, if you want to play with the big dogs, you have to act like them, and we certainly think the Polestar 3 is good enough to compete against the best that the US or Germany has to offer.

The Polestar 3 prototype is now on display at all 31 North American stores allowing anyone interested to see the upcoming car for themselves.
