The US commercial van market is huge, and the 2023 Ram ProMaster Window Van eagerly throws its hat in the ring for a slice of this lucrative pie. It comes with an unorthodox front-wheel-drive-only layout that lowers the floor for added practicality and is powered by a trusted 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 276 horsepower. Up to 463 cubic feet of cargo space is up for grabs if you opt for the 3500 model, but even in 2500 guise, it's practical. You don't get much off the factory floor, although the options list is filled with driver assists and features - but with only one or two seats, you'll be dealing with third-party suppliers if you want more seating in the back. It might not be as flashy as competitors such as the Ford Transit, but that doesn't mean the ProMaster Window Van isn't value for money.

The price of the 2023 Ram ProMaster Window Van starts at $47,125 for the 2500 model, while the 3500 goes on sale for $51,060 MSRP. Both these prices exclude destination fees of $1,895. This is on par with what competitors, such as the Ford Transit Van, will cost.

The 2023 Ram ProMaster Window Van is generally not awful to drive; but while it is certainly more comfortable than its cargo-focused sibling, courtesy of a standard 'Touring' suspension, it rides harshly over rough terrain, and bad city streets can be rather jarring. A heavy-duty suspension setup is available. Once up to speed, the light steering that helps it navigate tight city roads becomes detrimental as one needs to make constant minor adjustments to keep it between the lines. The good news is that the ProMaster Window Van has an excellent turning circle, making it great for tight spaces in city centers, and power deliver is smooth and predictable.

The 2023 Ram ProMaster Window Van is a basic machine that meets basic needs. Got a lot of people or stuff you need to transport? This vehicle will do it. Need it to be reliable? It's got that area covered too. What about the price? Well, it's competitively priced, so no issues there. In all fairness, this van does the van thing well, despite its quirks. We know that the FWD layout isn't typical, but it makes sense when you see the low floor, and the new high-roof option capitalizes on that trait. The V6 engine is as bomb-proof as you're going to get and returns decent gas mileage too. We appreciate all the standard driver assistance features but wish it was a bit more comfortable over the rough stuff. This van will do what you ask of it, with no complaints, which is precisely what bosses look for in employees, no?

This all depends on how much space you're looking for and what you want to do with your van. The 3500 has the most space in the lineup. If we were buying, we'd deck out the 3500 ProMaster Window van with the Driver Convenience Group, the LED Interior Package, and the Premium Convenience Group. The latter also requires adding one further driver assist feature, so we'd add the new Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist. For the exterior, we'd keep it white and add the 16-inch alloy wheels.
