Rimac Sets Nurburgring Record With New Nevera Time Attack

And celebrates with the first delivery of the new limited edition.

At Monterey Car Week, Rimac has announced an all-new variant of the Nevera called the Nevera Time Attack while also announcing a new Nurburgring record for electric production vehicles of 7:00.928 on the shorter circuit and 7:05.298 on the longer configuration.

The new record beats the previous record holder, the Tesla Model S Plaid, by a full 20 seconds. It was also within two-tenths of a second of the time set by the track-only Nio EP9 on road tires (its 6:45.90 was set on slicks).

The car used to set the record is a new variant of the Nevera, called the Time Attack, a one-of-12 limited edition that was revealed in California last night.

The Nevera Time Attack was piloted by Croatian racing driver Martin Kodric, and was set on street-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. It was verified by the German authority TUV SUD using onboard telemetry.

"We had challenging weather conditions during our practice sessions this week and have chosen what seems like one of the hottest days on the track this summer to set a lap time," explains Kodric. "However, a 7:05:298 lap time at the Nurburgring Nordschleife is commendable. The fact that the Nevera can achieve this kind of speed on track, when it's been developed to be a comfortable hyper GT for the road, is what makes it so special."

He added that "Driving it around the Nordschleife is a real thrill, from launching out of the Carousel, with 1,914 horsepower being distributed between the four wheels, or pinning the accelerator to the floor down the 1.30-mile (2.8-kilometer) straight section."

This Nurburgring record adds another accolade to the Rimac Nevera's trophy cabinet. In May this year, it shattered 23 speed and acceleration records, and while Koenigsegg may have taken a few of those back with the Regera, the Nevera has still proven its ability to stand on the global stage with the world's hypercar elite.

At the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Nevera was the quickest production car up the hill in 49.32 seconds.

The Nevera Time Attack special edition celebrates this new record, with all 12 cars already spoken for. At The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, the first customer car was delivered to its new owner, Californian Jeff Miller, to celebrate the record announcement.

"I am thrilled to take my delivery of the first Nevera Time Attack today, at this iconic event, and in Mate's presence," proclaims Miller. "A gigantic thank you to Mate and the entire Rimac team for designing and building such an amazing vehicle. The finish and fit on this car blow me away."

This version of special edition comprises a unique green and black livery designed in-house by the Rimac Automobili Color and Trim team, identical to the record-setting car. Each car sees the livery applied by hand. The base color of Squadron Black looks particularly sinister, while the Lightning Green highlights was inspired by a unique weather phenomenon that occurs before lightning storms when ionized particles create a vivid green hue in the sky. The shade also has history with Rimac, as Mate Rimac's e-M3 electric BMW 3 Series conversion was painted a similar hue. It was the e-M3 that started the Rimac Automobili journey, and was itself declared a record-setter in 2012 when the FIA independently verified its status as the fastest-accelerating vehicle in the world.

The remaining 11 cars can be had with either a Squadron Black base or a bare carbon finish, while hioghlight colors include Lightning Green, Rimac Racing Red, or Stiniva E-Blue. The Vertex alloy wheels of each will be tinted to match, and under the rear wing of each reads the message: "Dedicated to those coming after us."

Inside, black Alcantara upholstery receives highlight accents and contrast stitching to match the exterior shade and features 'Time Attack' stitching on the seatbacks and a "Time Attack: 1 of 12" plaque.

"In many ways the Nevera has reinvented the world of the hypercar, bringing new technologies, new abilities and new levels of performance," said Mate Rimac. "But the simplest way we can demonstrate its capabilities is to go out and break records. And that's exactly what we've done in 2023 time and again. The Nevera Time Attack is a Limited Edition that celebrates the achievements of the past year, wearing a bespoke livery inspired by the car that set of each of them."

There may be more to come, too, as Mate also claimed that "it's only August, too, so there's plenty of time for more records to be broken…"
