Rivian R1S and R1T Join Forza Horizon 5's Growing List Of EVs

As of this writing, the R1T is now available, while the R1S is coming on October 5.

Playground Games, the developers of Forza Horizon 5, has partnered with American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian. Thanks to this, the company's R1T pickup truck and R1S will be tearing up the digital dirt tracks of the Horizon Festival.

To unlock the Rivian all-terrain EVs, a player should head to the EventLab island. Once there, they must complete the "Stadium Supercross" event for the R1S and the "Mudslinger's Scramble" for the R1T.

The R1T EV joined the Horizon Festival during the second Horizon Creatives update, which was patched into the game on September 12, 2023. This update allows players to create and share events with the Forza community. The R1S, meanwhile, will be available to players on the third week of the Horizon Creatives update from October 5-12, 2023.

Just like their real-life counterparts, the R1T and R1S are capable dirt slingers that do their job without the rumble of an internal combustion engine. They instead use electric motors combined with beefy battery packs with a capacity ranging from 105 kWh to 180 kWh.

In its most powerful form, the R1S and R1T's quad-motor, all-wheel drivetrains can generate up to 835 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque, which should be more than enough to give the Rivians a fighting chance in Forza Horizon 5's many cross-country and dirt racing events.

The Rivian pair are not the only electric vehicles in Forza Horizon 5, as the GMC Hummer EV also entered the game during its recent "Explore The Horizon" update.

For those not keen on driving the Rivians in-game, the real-world versions of the car are rolling out at a rapid pace, and Rivian has started pumping out the more affordable dual-motor variants of the R1T.

If, on the other hand, you prefer racing sims to arcade racers, then you'll be looking forward to Forza Motorsport, which will have its own array of ICE, hybrid, and electric cars to drive at some of the world's most iconic circuits.
