Short-Lived Karma Revero To Receive Upgrade Packages

Karma Automotive, the little-known automaker that produces the elegant GS-6 sedan, has announced an unlikely partnership with Spania GTA, an obscure supercar maker based in Spain.

The alliance is between the Design by Karma subsidiary and Spania GTA and will see the latter provide "luxury and technological enhancements to 2017-2019 Reveros." Unfortunately, Karma hasn't specified the enhancements, but company president Marques McCammon says it will be a special package to modernize the Revero.

"Many Karma owners say they love their cars, the luxury EV craftsmanship, and want to drive them as long as possible. By aligning with Spania - with their deep auto racing heritage and globally acclaimed technological know-how - we are creating a special accessory package that expertly modernizes the Revero, our first-generation plug-in hybrid sports sedan," said McCammon.

Based on the fact that the upgrade package describes luxury and technology upgrades, we imagine owners would benefit from improved infotainment systems. However, the standard 10.2-inch touchscreen in the Revero is already feature-rich, with standard Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, navigation, and Bluetooth.

The upgrade package may introduce updated graphics and a more intuitive interface. There's also a possibility that Spania could offer a more premium sound system.

The standard interior is beautifully appointed, with lashings of leather and high-quality materials found throughout. We could see bespoke leather options and other custom touches make their way to the Karma Revero. It's undoubtedly one of the more unlikely automotive partnerships, but we'll be interested to see what results come from this. However, this service will only be offered to European customers.

"Spania GTA manufactures our exclusive hypercars with the best combination of performance, passion, and feelings," said company founder Domingo Ochoa. "By working with the incomparable design and engineering that defines Karma and their Revero, our collaboration will allow Revero customers in Europe to continue enjoying their beautiful vehicles with even more passion, emotion, and performance."

The Revero is a plug-in hybrid luxury sedan that gains motivation from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and dual electric motors. The result is 403 hp and a staggering 981 lb-ft of torque, which is suitable for a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.4 seconds. The all-electric range was rated at 37 miles.

It was replaced by the GS-6 in 2021, an updated version sporting a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine and a more palatable price tag.
