2023 Mazda CX-9 Trims & Specs

Due to the loss of last year's base Sport, there are now five trim levels in the lineup - Touring, Touring Plus, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring, and Signature. The powertrain specs of all Mazda CX-9 trims are identical; the same 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder is used in every model, delivering 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. Those specs dip to 227 hp and 310 lb-ft with regular gas. A six-speed automatic does the job of shifting gears and no other powertrain configurations are available. Performance specifications include a sprint to 60 mph in around seven seconds.

From the base model, the CX-9 is equipped with 18-inch alloys and full LED exterior lighting, while the interior boasts leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, two second-row captain's chairs, a power sunroof, cruise control, tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, and push-button start. The wheels increase in size as you move up the Mazda CX-9 trims levels, while the front seats gain ventilation, and the liftgate hands-free operation. Available options include front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view camera, and a head-up display. There is a package to swap out the second-row bench for captain's chairs at no extra cost, although some trims come standard as six-seaters only.

Additional Packages

The base model can't be ordered with any packages but rather a selection of standalone options. The Touring Plus and Grand Touring can be ordered with second-row captain's chairs at no cost. The few packages offered last year have disappeared and besides the second-row captain's chairs, you now have to select from a list of accessories to customize your CX-9. Some of the options include rear parking sensors for $500 and roof rails for $450 on the Touring and Touring Plus, a Class II trailer hitch for $550 on any trim, and a variety of cargo-management solutions and floormats.
