The Morgan Super 3 Has Officially Touched Down In America

Two bespoke commissions mark the brand's official debut in the United States.

Last year, Morgan revealed the new Super 3, an updated take on the brand's iconic three-wheeler sports cars. The quirky Brit has finally made its US debut at The Bridge VII, a prestigious motoring event at the Bridgehampton Golf Club. A pair of unique bespoke models highlight the sheer customizability of the Super 3 and showcase the array of options available to customers.

The 'Bridge Commission' wears an elegant Ice Green Metallic shade paired with dark graphite wheels. At the vehicle's rear, the lower bits of bodywork sport a funky one-off stripe livery, injecting some fun into the overall package. Inside, Cotswold Green leather complements the tasteful paintwork.

Cotswold Green seems to be a popular choice, as it's also found in the cabin of the second bespoke model. However, the owner of this example has chosen to pair the green hide with vivid orange accents. The exterior is more restrained, with Reflex Silver paintwork, matching wheels, side exo-racks with orange bungee straps, and auxiliary driving lights.

"I am delighted to be showing the Morgan Super 3 for the first time in the United States at The Bridge VII," said Morgan's CEO Massimo Fumarola. "Super 3 represents bold design, provides a sense of adventure, and is endlessly customizable. These qualities are all portrayed in our two special commissions for the event."

"We couldn't imagine a more fitting occasion for Morgan's return to the United States, this is just the first step in reigniting our longstanding relationship with the country," he added. Fumarola moved to Morgan last year after serving as Lamborghini's Special Projects Manager. The new chief executive hopes to make the automaker a more "adventurous lifestyle brand."

With the Super 3, Morgan has officially returned to the United States. Interested customers can visit their nearest Morgan dealership for a test drive. If you're interested, you'd best have deep pockets because the Super 3 is a costly little sports car. Pricing starts at just under $54,000, but the numerous options can quickly push the price past $60,000. The company plans to introduce four-wheeled models to the US lineup, so we can expect the updated Plus Four and Plus Six models to touch down shortly.

The Super 3 is powered by a Ford-sourced 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 118 horsepower and 110 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 60 mph takes seven seconds, while the top speed is pegged at 130 mph. It should be a hoot to drive on a twisty road, thanks to the 1,400-lb curb weight. That makes it nearly 1,000 lbs lighter than the Mazda MX-5 Miata, one of the most lightweight road cars on sale today.
