Travis Pastrana And Ken Block Had Big Plans For Next Gymkhana Film

Sadly, Block passed away earlier this year before anything was finalized.

The untimely passing of Ken Block earlier this year was devastating for scores of gearheads. Block's death was a shock for the Hoonigan team, fans of Block's incredible exploits, and the automotive industry as a whole.

Following his death, many wondered what would happen to the iconic Gymkhana video series, which Travis Pastrana has spearheaded in the last two installments. While things changed after the tragedy, Pastrana recently shared what would have been.

In an interview with The Drive, Pastrana revealed that the following video would have been the wildest, most exciting ever. Pastrana and Block were expected to engage in a head-to-head race up Mount Washington, drifting rapidly across the hillclimb.

The since-abandoned video would likely have been a finale, with the installment used to introduce the next generation of Gymkhana prodigies. Pastrana notes Block's daughter, Lia, would potentially have been revealed as their successor.

Speaking about the proposed Mount Washington stunt, Pastrana notes, "We were going to try to actually set the record because now it's more pavement, but drifting the whole time. It just would be something fun and set it up for when we're talking crap to have a Ken versus myself Gymkhana."

"We would've been like, okay, what's the all-time stunts? What's the craziest stuff? What have we wanted to get but couldn't get permits for? We're going to just blow this out of the water," he added.

That says a lot, especially considering all the extreme stunts Pastrana and Block have pulled off over the years. During the filming of Gymkhana 12, Pastrana suffered a severe injury when he broke his back during a botched stunt.

The ending, which would have involved Lia Block, would have been a beautiful way of passing the baton from father to daughter. Sadly, the original idea will never come to fruition, but there's always a chance that the talented Lia could still become the star of Gymkhana.

"And at the end of that, [like] how I came into Ken's after [the tenth installment], where we got out of the car, and the credits were going to be rolling to family, but basically having Lia at the end taking the car. And that was going to be a transition if she wanted to, for her to take over the series," remarked Pastrana.

We certainly hope Lia is on board for this, but we'll have to wait for the official announcement. Earlier this year, the driving whizz-kid piloted her father's Porsche 911 Hoonipigasus up Pikes Peak in a beautiful tribute to her late dad.
