Ultra-Exclusive Bugatti And Larry Sands Eyewear Collection Uses Some Of The Rarest Materials On Earth

Drive and see in style.

Bugatti, in collaboration with Larry D. Sands, is releasing a line of sunglasses, called Collection One, which have been carefully created to reflect the design and engineering prowess of Bugatti supercars. Launched at the Principe di Savoia hotel in Milan, Italy, 37 pieces comprise the nine-style set available in some truly impressive materials like palladium, 925 sterling silver, carbon fiber, and Macassar ebony.

Releasing lines like this makes perfect sense, as people who own a $3.6 million Bugatti Pur Sport can't be seen wearing just any eyewear. No, only the best will do. This is where Larry Sands comes in. With a career spanning over 60 years, the fashion icon has created eyewear pieces for the biggest fashion houses in the world.

"When I got the call from Bugatti, I was a little surprised, but to be approached by the world's most powerful and luxurious auto manufacturer, to create their eyewear, was an honor," he said. "Everything I do is unexpected, and Bugatti Eyewear is some of my most unexpected work yet. Expectation is the enemy of creativity."

With Ettore Bugatti's motto of "If comparable, it is no longer Bugatti" in mind, Sands dove into the project with open arms. The goal was to create, quite literally, the Bugatti of sunglasses, and this meant using techniques and materials found nowhere else.

One of the most interesting engineering techniques used on the glasses is the use of Positive Vapor Depostion (PVD.) Used on Bugatti supercars, the process involves a solid material that is vaporized in a vacuum and deposited onto the surface of the product. It acts like a diamond-like coating with a surface that is highly resistant to wear and has never been used in the eyewear industry before.

Each piece will be crafted in Japan and will be available in highly exclusive boutiques around the world. Prices will range from $1,295 to a whopping $15,000 depending on the pair, and they're sure to garner the attention most wearers will seek with a product like this.

The only way a Bugatti lover can outdo themselves is if they pair it with the over-the-top Bugatti Smartwatch while going for a run in the state-of-the-art Bugatti running shoes. Then you can relax at home playing some pool on your $300,000 Bugatti pool table while sipping your Bugatti Champagne and reminding yourself how great it is to not be poor.
