VinFast VF 9 Seven-Seat Electric SUV Starts At $83,000 With 330-Mile Range

Pricing for the VinFast VF 9 electric SUV has been revealed, and it's considerably more than we first thought. The Vietnamese carmaker has revealed that the three-row electric SUV will retail for $83,000 for the Eco trim, while the Plus variant is priced at $91,000.

At that price point, VinFast is offering the VF 9 with a 10-year battery and a 10-year/125,000-mile overall warranty, a similar program for the smaller VF 8.

According to the automaker, the VinFast VF 9 has a 125-kWh battery that can be charged from zero to 70 percent in 35 minutes via DC fast charging.

Aside from the pricing, VinFast confirmed that the VF 9 has a certified EPA range of up to 330 miles when its 125-kWh battery is fully charged. The EPA-rated 330 miles range is applicable for the VF 9's Eco trim, while the model's Plus variant has a certified 291 miles range.

VinFast previously said that the VF 9's 125-kWh battery has an estimated range of 369 miles for the Eco trim and 360 miles for the Plus variant - significantly higher than the EPA ratings.

Moreover, the VF 9's 330 miles maximum range is 18 miles less than some of its rivals in the US market. For example, the Tesla Model X delivers up to 348 miles of range and the BMW iX has a similar range.

VinFast expects to export this model to the North American market this year, joining the VF 8 model."

The Vietnamese carmaker is also going all-in as its first US plant is underway, which is expected to start operations in 2025.

The VF 9 is an important model for VinFast as the VF 8 has not gotten off to the best of starts. The SUV is not gaining traction among American customers despite the automaker offering enticing guarantees.
