Watch Jay Leno Fall In Love With The Pininfarina Battista

What does the man who's driven nearly everything think of one of the world's quickest hypercars?

Automobili Pininfarina has given Jay Leno a taste of its electric hypercars, bringing both the recently-revealed Pininfarina B95 and the record-setting Battista to the celebrity's garage. The former TV show host focused on the Battista - one of the fastest accelerating production cars in the market right now - and not the B95.

Leno loved the fact that the Battista is genuinely classic Italian. He complimented its aerodynamic design, calling it a "beautiful automobile" with virtually no straight lines, suitably living up to the automaker's historical design prowess.

The Italian brand's CEO, Paolo Dellacha, joined Leno on the show, reminding us that while it's now a fully-fledged automaker, the brand still remains driven by design first, saying that the engineers follow the direction of designers, not the other way around. He explains this is why the Battista looks the way it does.

Mechanically speaking, the vehicle produces 1,877 horsepower and 1,726 lb-ft of torque. Those are crazy figures, considering the size of the vehicle. Dellacha further shared that its suspension was designed for handling, and its body is entirely carbon fiber to reduce weight and aid athleticism. While the car Leno drives is painted, buyers can even spec exposed carbon fiber - although just about every conceivable option under the sun is a possibility at this price point.

Also showcased by Leno was the Pininfarina PURA Vision - a crossover concept that was shown off at Monterey Car Week. There's also the B95 "Barchetta" open-top vehicle based on the Battista, which will be launched by 2025 to coincide with Pininfarina SpA's 95th anniversary, hence the name. Leno fiddled around the Pura Vision's doors for a bit and was likewise interested in the B95's deployable windshields, but ultimately, it was the Battista he came back to.

During Leno's test drive with the Battista, he initially noted that it has "so much torque it's hilarious." He also mentioned that despite being a heavy electric vehicle, you can control it with just one finger.

For most of the ride, though, Leno was quiet and probably took in everything the Battista could give. They fiddled a bit with the car's drive modes, but Leno did exclaim in the end about the incredible achievement of making a nearly 1,900 horsepower vehicle since those numbers were typically only ever seen on dragsters not so long ago.

The former TV show host didn't give it the beans as they were on public roads, but we know it ranks as one of the most insanely quick accelerating vehicles of all time, clocking 0-60 mph in 1.79 seconds. This crushed the Tesla Model S Plaid's 0 to 60 mph record last year but was beaten by the Rimac Nevera this year. Still, second place isn't too shabby.
