Watch: Spectacular 23-Car Barn Find Discovered In Alabama

A remarkable collection of 23 classics has been unearthed near Birmingham, Alabama. Hidden away in an unassuming barn are some of the most desirable American classics, from low-mileage Corvette sports cars to well-preserved trucks and muscle cars.

The collection once belonged to the late Earl Trammel, an avid car collector who died in 2022. Trammel was a rather interesting character and acquired his unique vehicles as an investment. The auto business doyen did not trust Wall Street and the banking system, so he placed his money in something he trusted: desirable cars.

When he passed, his ex-wife, Patricia, inherited the collection but has now let go of the cars after her brother encouraged her to do so. "These cars started accumulating through Earl Trammel's love for cars," said John Hollander, Trammel's brother-in-law. "He was a car and body man for over 60-70 years."

"He was in business in two separate shops in Birmingham and started collecting cars at an early age. These cars need to be out where people can see them, so I finally talked my sister into selling the entire inventory," said Hollander.

The collection mainly comprises rare and classic Corvettes, the oldest of which is a 1971 Stingray Coupe with 1,600 miles on the clock. It's not the lowest mileage vehicle in the barn. That accolade belongs to a 1998 Corvette Indy Pace Car showing just 23 miles. Seven vehicles have less than 100 miles on the clock, suggesting they only have delivery mileage.

Not all of Trammel's cars were garage queens, though. The 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible has a recorded 90,000 miles on the clock, while the 1956 Chevrolet 210 Sedan has 64,000 miles. Just one European car, a 1996 Porsche 911 C4S manual, forms part of the collection.

The collection was purchased by GiveMeTheVin.com (GMTV), which plans to auction all 23 vehicles in spring 2024. "This is a one-in-a-million barn find," said John Clay Wolfe, GMTV CEO. "I buy and sell more than fifty thousand vehicles a year and hold the world record for selling 1,500 cars in one day, but I've never accomplished anything like this."

"The diversity of the collection - from the brand new ZR1 to the limited edition 35th Anniversary Corvette that still has the plastic on the interior - is sure to make car junkies salivate when these classics go on display in a few months," added Wolfe.

It's not the biggest barn find in recent years, though. In 2021, a massive 144-car-strong barn find was discovered in London. However, the condition of the collection was nowhere near as pristine as the vehicles seen here.
