Chevy Corvette Z06 Wants To Sound Exotic With Lingenfelter Corsa Exhausts

Tuning / 6 Comments

The exhausts add 12 horsepower and 13 lb-ft of torque.

Some are not fond of the exhaust sound of the Chevrolet Corvette C8, saying the previous C7 generation sounded better. While this will always be subjective, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering may have a solution. The Michigan-based firm offers new exhausts for the C8 Z06, which are available with price cuts for a limited time.

Lingenfelter offers the Corsa 3.0" Valved Cat-Back Exhaust Muffler Delete Track System for $2,499.99 (from $2,748.90), while the other with the NPP option sells for $3,499.99 (from $3,848.90). C8 owners who opt for the former will benefit from free installation.

Specs-wise, the two exhaust systems add 12 horsepower and 13 lb-ft of torque (dyno tested). This should bring the power up to 682 hp and 473 lb-ft of torque from a 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8, further insulting the V8-powered Mercedes-AMG GT that makes 577 horsepower with a twin-turbo setup.

The more expensive option does produce a significantly more aggressive exhaust sound than the alternative. According to the GM tuner, the exhausts were developed to give a more "exotic and louder exhaust note" than the stock. It is also said to be louder under acceleration and quieter than stock at cruise.

Lingenfelter offers the products a lifetime warranty for the exhaust system and a five-year warranty for the valves.

The base C8 Corvette Stingray was also offered with an exhaust system engineered with Corsa Performance. The sound going through the stainless exhaust system is produced by the Stingray's 6.2-liter NA V8, which also came with increased power outputs at around 509 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque.

Chevrolet will introduce two new C8 Corvette models - the ZR1 and Zora. Both will reportedly be coming with components like turbochargers and hybrid motors that should alter the sound of their V8s. It would be interesting to hear what Lingenfelter will have in store for the models when they arrive in the next two years.
